• Adidas NFTs: An enigmatic POAP goes public with little explanation

  • Adidas is entering the metaverse and developing NFTs, as announced on Twitter earlier this week. This comes in the same week that their main competitor, Nike, announced their own foray into space. POAP, a platform for distributing crypto-badges tied to specific events, was used.

    Adidas is a brand that no longer requires an introduction. However, Adidas is a German fashion company that has now gone global and is regarded as one of the industry’s most powerful brands. Adolf Dassler founded the company in 1949, just a few years after WWII. The story of the company’s origins is intriguing, with the Dassler brothers having a falling out and then splitting, and both brothers going their separate ways, with Rudolf founding Puma, which is now one of the world’s largest fashion companies.

    Adidas is the world’s second-largest sportswear manufacturer, trailing only Nike. The Adidas group also owns Reebok and 8.33 percent of Bayern Munich, a German football team. Adidas has a presence in almost every sport, most notably (association) football, running, tennis, basketball, and cricket. They have sponsorship agreements with numerous athletes and teams all over the world.

    Fashion NFTs have received a lot of attention recently. Many people believe that this niche of NFTs has a lot of potential. Nike has also entered the metaverse through their collaboration with Roblox to create NikeLand. Which is available for free on the platform. Fashion has also played a role in Decentraland, with FEWOCiOUS creating physical shoes with his artwork on them. He has also stated that his future projects will be heavily focused on fashion.
