The movie theater chain AMC has announced that it will provide free NFTs to its shareholders. The initiative follows the success of the company’s first NFT giveaway, which coincided with the release of the new Spider-Man film.
The Kansas-based movie theater said that current members of its investor reward program, Investor Connect, as well as anyone else who purchases a stock in the company before the end of the year, will receive a free NFT. The NFT’s image is a moving and gleaming gold-embossed medallion that proudly reads “I OWN AMC.”
AMC first entered the world of NFTs in late November, when it offered 86,000 NFTs to the first buyers of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ tickets, which will be released in mid-December. This NFT-infused initiative, according to AMC CEO Adam Aron, is thought to have contributed to the movie chain’s second best one-day sales for the premiere.
AMC is no stranger to partaking in current trends, as evidenced by its current meme stock. In addition, Adam Aron has appeared on a popular YouTube channel to gain additional exposure among retail traders, and he regularly tweets about AMC’s NFT-infused initiatives on his Twitter page. The company has also started accepting cryptocurrencies, and it hopes to add the Japanese meme-coin Shiba Inu next.
