Binance has appointed three former housemates from the popular Nigerian reality show “Big Brother Naija” as brand ambassadors for the African continent.
Bringing Crypto into the Public Eye
Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a partnership with three former Big Brother Naija housemates as part of its strategy to expand its presence on the African continent. The three former housemates, Hazel Oyeze Onou, Ikechukwu Sunday Okonkwo, and Pere Egbi, will assist the exchange in bringing crypto to the mainstream, according to the exchange.
Binance director for Africa Emmanuel Babalola explained the rationale for selecting the three individuals, as well as how their efforts will help the exchange achieve some of its goals, in a statement published by Techpoint Africa. According to Babalola:
“Our goal is to help people understand cryptocurrency and make it easier for them to incorporate it into their daily lives.” One of the things we’ve noticed is how these influencers and their stories embody the spirit of entrepreneurship, hard work, and the everyday Nigerian lifestyle. We share the goal of providing more Africans with the knowledge and resources they need to achieve financial independence, so it’s a natural fit, and collaborating with them is a big win.”
‘The New Currency,’ Crypto
Meanwhile, the same Techpoint Africa report quotes one of the ex-housemates, Onou — also known as “Whitemoney” — explaining why he chose to partner with the exchange.
“Crypto is the new currency, and I am excited to spread the Binance message because you don’t have to be rich or educated to trade crypto,” the former housemate said. Okonkwo (Cross), another housemate, stated that he has been using the Binance trading app and is eager to educate the youth about the benefits of cryptocurrency trading.
