• Binance donates $2.5 million in cryptocurrency to help children in Ukraine

    Binance Charity has teamed up with UNICEF and other cryptocurrency players to help children in war-torn Ukraine. The exchange contributed $2.5 million in cryptocurrency through its charitable arm.

    Binance Assists Ukraine

    This contribution is meant to assist UNICEF in assisting families in Ukraine affected by the Russo-Ukrainian war.

    With the conflict continuing, the lives and well-being of 7.5 million Ukrainian children are constantly jeopardized. As a result, there is an ongoing need for humanitarian assistance, as many of them are reported to be physically and psychologically damaged by the violence around them.

    The increasing disagreement, according to Binance Founder and CEO Chanpeng Zhao (CZ), is really startling. Many families are fleeing in search of safety, while others are separated from friends and family.

    UNICEF is collaborating on a regional level with the Ukrainian government to assist community projects. The contracting of mobile teams to provide child protection services is one such initiative.

    CZ has made public his intention to contribute financially to charitable projects in collaboration with UNICEF.

    “We’re grateful for our ongoing collaboration with UNICEF, which, with the help of the Binance community, provides emergency relief to help ease some of the sufferings these children and their families are experiencing,” he says.

According to the organization, it is reliant on the generosity of the global business community to assist Ukrainian children who are “terrified, in shock, and anxious for protection.”

    According to available information, Russia’s invasion has devastated several infrastructures and livelihoods, particularly in Northern Ukraine. Both governments have imposed different regimes of cash flow restrictions, significantly complicating the issue for residents.

    In its defense against the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian government has relied on the generosity of the crypto community and the globe at large.

    According to sources, the government has raised over $70 million in cryptocurrency funds and has already spent $15 million on military equipment.

    While it previously accepted top digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a few stablecoins, the crypto community has assisted the country in increasing the number of assets it accepts through donations in Dogecoin and Polkadot.

    Russia, on the other hand, has been subjected to a number of limitations imposed by the international community, including sanctions on its economy. Leading fintech service providers such as PayPal, Visa, and MasterCard have recently ceased their activities in the country.
