• Carolina Hurricanes to Accept Shiba Inu

  • In collaboration with BitPay, the Carolina Hurricanes, a professional ice hockey team based in North Carolina, will accept cryptocurrency purchases on its e-commerce site. Caniacs who are crypto-savvy will be able to purchase a variety of goods items.

Shiba Inu, the best-performing cryptocurrency of the year, will be among the available payment methods, according to a team spokeswoman.

BitPay introduced support for the popular meme coin in early December, providing it a significant boost in adoption.

Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Wrapp Bitcoin, Ether, and several stablecoins are also supported by the largest crypto payment processor.

Don Waddell, general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, believes that the adoption of cryptocurrency payments will improve the shopping experience for Canes fans and make the team a part of the crypto community:

We are able to create a foothold in the fast rising cryptocurrency sector and give our fans with additional payment flexibility by working with BitPay.

Despite the lack of household names, the Hurricanes are now the second best-performing team in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 2021–22 season. Only the Tampa Bay Lightning has a higher Elo ranking (1576). They are now the third-best bet to win the Stanley Cup.

Shiba Inu acceptance continues to grow.

In early December, the computer e-tailer Newegg offered Shiba Inu as a payment option.

This month, Travala, a crypto-focused travel company that services over two million hotels worldwide, also permitted its customers to purchase with SHIB.

AMC, the world’s largest movie theater chain, plans to begin adopting the hot cryptocurrency in early 2022.
