• Coinbase will hire 1,000 people as part of its India expansion

  • Exchange of cryptocurrencies Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated in a blog post that the company wants to quadruple its workforce in India by the end of the year, adding 1,000 to the existing 300 employees at its Indian innovation hub, which opened last year.

    “We have huge aspirations for India and hope to hire over 1,000 individuals in our India center this year alone,” Armstrong, who is presently in the country, wrote in a blog post.

    The company stated its global “plans to add 2,000 personnel across Product, Engineering, and Design in 2022” on February 15.

    Armstrong also stated that Coinbase will be “organizing a crypto community event in Bangalore to explore the future of crypto and web3 in India” on Thursday.

    In a previous blog post titled “Lighting Up The Map: How Coinbase Plans To Scale Globally,” the company stated that it intends to “double down on regional investments, adding to its portfolio of platforms such as CoinSwitch Kuber and CoinDCX in India…” to “accelerate the global growth of the cryptoeconomy.”

    By volume, Coinbase is the world’s second-largest exchange. Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam launched it in June of 2012.
