Exchange of cryptocurrencies Crypto.com is now the most downloaded app on the Google Play Store in the United States, across all categories.
According to the most recent list of Google Play Store’s top free apps, Crypto.com’s app has surpassed TikTok in terms of downloads to take first place. Coinbase’s app is ranked third, ahead of Cash App, and Voyager Digital is ranked tenth, following the trading platform’s announcement of a partnership with the Dallas Mavericks basketball team.
Crypto.com’s rising popularity could be attributed to the exchange’s release of an ad campaign starring actor Matt Damon, arguably one of the most well-known celebrities to endorse a cryptocurrency exchange. The “fortune favors the brave” advertisement, which went live last week, aims to reach a global audience of potential cryptocurrency users and investors.
The number of downloads for a company’s app could be used to gauge market interest. While Crypto.com currently holds the top spot on the Google Play Store, the exchange’s app was the third most downloaded on the Apple App Store in the United States last week — it has since dropped to the #20 spot. Though the Damon campaign most likely contributed to the native Crypto.com Coin (CRO) reaching a six-month high of $0.2294 on Oct. 29, the token has since dropped roughly 7% to $0.2134 at the time of publication.
Shiba Inu (SHIB), Shiba Inu (BTC), and Ether are also mentioned in the description of Crypto.com’s trading app (ETH). The price of the Dogecoin (DOGE) clone token has skyrocketed in the last year, with some retailers now accepting it as payment.
