Easy Crypto, a cryptocurrency exchange based in New Zealand, announced a $12 million Series A funding round in an Oct. 6 press release.
Nuance Connected Capital led the round, which also included investments from Pathfinder, an ethical pension provider, and GDP Venture, an Indonesia-based venture capital firm. Hutt Capital, Seven Peaks Ventures, Icehouse Ventures, and Even Capital, all based in the United States, also contributed to the funding.
The capital will be used to expand globally into new markets, according to the exchange, which said the round was oversubscribed by 50%.
Easy Crypto stated in the release that it intends to expand its operations in Southeast Asia. Easy Crypto already has a strong presence in South Africa, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand.Easy Crypto’s platform allows users to buy and sell over 150 cryptocurrencies. The three-year-old company, founded by siblings Janine and Alan Grainger, has seen its user base more than fivefold increase in the last year.
“This funding will accelerate our global growth trajectory, making cryptocurrency easily accessible to even more customers around the world,” the company’s CEO, Janine Grainger, told ULTCOIN365. “It is a clear endorsement of what the Easy Crypto team has accomplished to date, as well as the platform’s growth potential.”
