• Gemini is planning to launch derivatives and is looking for a new director

  • Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins, is planning to enter the derivatives market.

According to a job posting, the firm, which provides cryptocurrency services to both institutional and retail users, is currently looking for a director of derivatives to “build a best in class derivatives platform.”

“We are looking for a candidate with experience managing strategy and operations of exchange services in a constantly changing business environment,” according to the job posting. “The ideal candidate should be able to cultivate internal relationships in order to drive cross-departmental collaboration and execution of our derivative strategy and market entry.”

Gemini isn’t the only company interested in entering the derivatives market. Coinbase applied for futures commission merchant status with the National Futures Association in September. FTX.US completed its acquisition of LedgerX last month in order to provide derivatives to its clients.
