• Germany: The Bundesliga has partnered with Topps to launch the NFT Collection

  • The German Bundesliga is the most recent addition to the NFT frenzy.

Topps collaborates with the German Bundesliga to launch the NFT Collection.

The non-fungible token (NFT) frenzy shows no signs of abating, as collectible card company, Topps recently inked a deal with the German Bundesliga to launch an NFT collection to commemorate the 2021-22 season, according to a recent report by Ledger Insights.

Notably, the aforementioned NFT collectibles will be issued on the high-performance Avalanche blockchain.

For those who are unaware, the German Bundesliga is one of the most fan-centric sports leagues in the world, with football clubs not permitted to compete if commercial investors own more than 49 percent of any of the teams.

The egalitarian commercial nature of football clubs in the Bundesliga means that fans have a significant say in voting rights, which fosters a favorable environment for the success of a fan engagement solution like Topps’.

According to sources close to the situation, the aforementioned NFT collection will include a slew of digital renditions of star players, rising stars, and memorable moments from the season. Notably, the NFTs can be purchased with a credit card from Topps’ NFT store. The scarcity of the NFT cards available ranges from Common to Legendary.

Tobin Lent, VP & General Manager at Topps Digital Sports, commented:

“Our vision is to create a fun, easy-to-use collecting experience on the Blockchain that appeals to all fans, regardless of previous experience with NFTs. It is an extension of the pioneering vision we have had for digital collectibles since the launch of our mobile apps in 2012.”

“We can’t wait to share this new collecting experience with Bundesliga fans all over the world,” says the company. Whether you are a fan of a club like RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg, or Eintracht Frankfurt, or a fan of a specific player, the Bundesliga community will be able to collect their favorite stars as well as their favorite moments from the 2020-21 season in one collection.”

Using the Avalanche Blockchain as a foundation

As previously stated, the Avalanche blockchain powers the Topps NFT collection.
