Four valiant Jamaicans made Olympic history in the winter of 1988. They defied all odds, persevered in the face of adversity, and rose to global acclaim. This was the birthplace of the Jamaican Bobsled team.
They’re at it again, 33 years later. They are turning to the trusty NFT to raise funds for their latest bobsledding adventure. The Jamaican Bobsled Team has organized a sale of bobsled-themed NFTs to that end. As such, these are 3D bobsled renderings wrapped in Jamaican art community thematic artworks.
In addition, six additional NFTs will feature the designs of the team’s actual bobsleds. The sale’s proceeds will cover the entire cost of sending Jamaican athletes to the next Olympics. This includes training, travel, lodging, and equipment purchases. And, with a little help from the NFT community, they’ll be in Beijing in 2022.
The Jamaican bobsled team captured the hearts of the world in 1988. Then, in 1993, with the release of the film Cool Runnings, he once again tugged at the world’s heartstrings. So, if anyone out there is looking for a sequel to this fantastic film, you’d better start bidding.
The NFT launch is part of a strategic partnership with the people behind Electric Token. However, further details about the drop are being kept under wraps for the time being. For more information, visit the Jamaican bobsled team’s website.
