Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META) has announced the date and location of its second Meta Connect 2022 conference, which will take place on October 11th. This comes after the technology company changed its name from Facebook to Meta at the inaugural Connect conference in 2021. At the time, the event was known as Oculus Connect.

Meta Announces the 2022 Connect Conference

According to the Meta Connect website, the 2022 conference will be virtual, and attendees will be able to learn about the evolution of the metaverse and the value of cooperation while live streaming. Meta also mentioned that after the program, creator and developer sessions would be available on demand.

The Meta Connect 2022 conference was touted as a one-day virtual event by the technical business.

“[It] explores the building of the metaverse and the future of augmented and virtual reality. Industry leaders will share the latest technologies and developer sessions will cover how to use them. Our goal is to bring the world closer together and deepen human connection through new experiences.”

Apart from the material on the website, there is presently no more information on the event’s expected sessions and speakers. However, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Meta would launch its next-generation VR headset at the event. The CEO stated on Joe Rogan’s podcast that it would be more expensive than the $400 Oculus. The device will also most likely have eye-tracking and face-tracking capabilities. The Connect conference in 2022 may offer information about upcoming virtual worlds.

Horizon Worlds, Meta’s VR-based social platform, has been available for a year. The platform was initially launched in the United States and Canada, before expanding to Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. It also proposed creating an online version of this platform when users complained about harassment. Meta also intends to develop tools for creators to sell in Horizon Worlds. With NFTs discussions intermittently, Meta may discuss its links with possible marketplaces at a future events. The corporation has spent money on its metaverse concept, and we are waiting for feedback.

    Meta’s Virtual Reality Headset

According to Zuckerberg, the VR headgear, which is a follow-up to the Oculus 2, would be focused on “social presence.” He stated that the headset’s design captures users’ facial experiences, which are then duplicated in real-time on their avatars. The headset, according to the CEO, will be available next month. Meta plans to close its Facebook gaming app in October of the same year. Following the termination, the app will be removed from both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
