• MetaBrewSociety – Using NFTs, Own and Manage a Brewery

  • Thinking forward MetaBrewSociety (MBS), based in Munich, plans to use NFTs to give its DAO members voting rights on choices made in a physical brewery. MBS, which was founded in February of this year by a group of NFT and beer aficionados, eventually blends the wonders of beer, the metaverse, DAOs, and NFTs to create experiences and pathways of ownership with utility in both the physical and digital spheres.

    Voting rights will be distributed in the form of ‘beer share certificate’ NFTs, each of which will provide varied amounts of power over decisions made at a physical brewery in Munich, as well as decisions made in future metaverse Land plots (with The Sandbox rumoured to be a potential location). The decisions will concern brewery procedures, pricing (to NFT holders and non-holders), and distribution strategy.

    A total of 6,000 NFTs will be distributed in two stages, the first to whitelisted members at a TBD date and price. Once 75 percent of the NFTs have been issued, MBS will finalize the purchase of an existing brewery, allowing it to alter its name to ‘MetaBrewery’ and form a DAO comprised of NFT holders.

    The proceeds from the NFT mint will be used to purchase and expand the brewery, to conduct NFT-holder festivals and events, and to provide each NFT holder with at least 100 free cans of beer per year. Holders will most likely be airdropped beer allotment via separate NFTs, allowing them to effectively sell their beer if they do not intend to consume it.

    MBS’s presence in the metaverse will strive to harness the burgeoning virtual realm in order to boost its exposure, as well as use it as an online shop for its future beer varieties.

    The project is also not ruling out the possibility of purchasing a second brewery, which may be helped by the implementation of more NFTs.
