The Minnesota State Fair is being brought to the blockchain by Scott Jensen.
On Wednesday, the former state senator and current Republican candidate for governor of Minnesota announced the release of two fair-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs), claiming to be the first political campaign to do so.
Politicians may be the next group to enter the digital collectible space, as various industries scramble to capitalize on the growing interest in NFTs.
The two NFTs comprise half of Jensen’s “Scott at the Fair!” collection, with 25,000 copies available for $5 each.
Purchasing one of the NFTs grants access to a rewards program with prizes throughout the campaign, including the chance to meet Jensen and watch a Minnesota Vikings game with former NFL player Matt Birk.
Because the purchase constitutes a donation to Jensen’s campaign, there are restrictions on who and how many NFTs can be purchased. Donations are limited to $4,000 per person or $8,000 per couple.
Jensen will run against incumbent Minnesota governor Tim Walz in the state’s gubernatorial election in 2022.
