OKX, a cryptocurrency exchange, announced a collaboration with South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based newspaper controlled by Jack Ma, to develop non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The NFTs will include blogs, video footage, and historical archives gathered over its 118-year history.
OKX premium users will get first access to the NFT collection.
The South China Morning Post will produce collectible NFTs of their historic archives.
OKX CEO Jay Hao believes in the potential of cryptocurrency and the metaverse, citing the collaboration with South China Morning Post (SCMP) as an important milestone.
“There is a lot of potential in the crypto and metaverse area, and OKX is working hard to make it a more friendly place for everyone.” This ambitious program’s collaboration with SCMP is just getting started.”
The South China Morning Post is looking forward to honoring the impact of the 1997 plummet on Asia’s important history. The journal intends to highlight current events such as the handover of Hong Kong from British to Chinese control, the Asian Financial Crisis, the deaths of Deng Xiaoping and Princess Diana, the Avian flu pandemic, and others.
Jay Hao, in response to the news, stated:
“We are excited to welcome and serve our global family as part of the OKX Premium client program.” There is a lot of potential in the crypto and metaverse area, and OKX is working hard to make it a more inviting place for everyone. This ambitious program’s collaboration with SCMP is just getting started.”
Gary Liu, CEO of SCMP, stated:
“Through our whitepaper on artifacts, we hope to inspire other ‘keepers of history’ to embrace our goal of making history more discoverable, connected, and collectible.” We are thrilled to have OKX as a partner in our efforts to develop media-centric metaverse projects.”
