• On a novel gaming initiative, Warner Music Group collaborates with the play-to-earn blockchain card game Splinterlands

  • Warner announced a partnership with Splinterlands to merge blockchain and music by allowing artists to create unique blockchain games.

Warner Music Group (NASDAQ: WMG) has announced a partnership with Splinterlands, the popular play-to-earn blockchain card game. As part of this relationship, both firms will work to give opportunities for chosen WMG artists to build and develop innovative, arcade-style blockchain games.

WMG Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development, Oana Ruxandra, remarked about the development. Ruxandra emphasized the benefits the platform would receive from collaborating with Splinterlands, which presently operates one of the world’s most popular blockchain decentralized apps. The WMG executive suggested that Splinterlands’ resources will help WMG’s music focus. She phrased it this way:

“I don’t think we can understate the magnitude of the possibilities in P2E gaming.” By collaborating with Splinterlands to create unique tokenized games, we will open up new revenue streams for our artists who are interested in the space while boosting the importance of fans and community. WMG is committed to keeping music at the forefront of the Web3 ecosystem as it evolves.”

Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, co-founder and CEO of Splinterlands, also spoke about the joint growth between his platform and WMG. According to Reich, WMG, as a pioneer in the music industry, strives to consistently develop and meet Web3 community members’ requirements. Reich also stated his pleasure in working with the entertainment and record label conglomerate on a variety of metaverse applications and concepts. Crypto, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), decentralized finance (DeFi), blockchain, and music are a few examples.

The Warner Music and Splinterlands Initiative Discovers a Growing Trend in the Gaming Cryptospace

Blockchain games are becoming increasingly popular as an essential aspect of the future of gaming and cryptocurrency. Blockchain games, in fact, account for over half of all activity in the blockchain business, according to DappRadar. Both WMG and Splinterlands are attempting to capitalize on this trend with their current project. Furthermore, the addition of WMG’s music-oriented back-end allows both platforms to appeal to a broader and larger demographic. WMG and Splinterlands will develop mobile-friendly, approachable games that will help to accelerate adoption and stimulate community building. This goal, it is believed, is more easily attained than typical play-to-earn games.

    Splinterland

Splinterlands, founded in 2018, is a top blockchain gaming developer specializing on fantasy-themed collecting card games. The site, which is powered by hive blockchain technology, now has 1.8 million registered members and 450K daily users. Furthermore, Splinterlands hit the colossal one billion battle milestone. The blockchain-based trading card game seeks to establish a community experience by prioritizing player input and guidance as fodder for future game advancements.

The incentives players gain on Splinterlands, including digitized tokens, have real-world value. This allows players to trade, sell, or lease any items they earn in the game.

Splinterlands announced a partnership with TeraBlock, a diverse digital currency ecosystem, in January of this year to improve the DeFi gaming experience. According to the agreement, players of the Splinterlands game platform will be able to bridge simpler tokens across different blockchains utilizing TeraBlock.
