Osinachi, an exceptional digital artist, is about to become the first African to list an NFT at Christie’s, the world’s leading auction house. His interpretation of David Hockney’s 1972 swimming pool painting is up for grabs.
Osinachi’s unusual medium of choice is Microsoft Office, which he uses to create his intricate masterpieces. His deeply personal creations, represented by vibrant, piercing works that speak from the soul, speak of life growing up in Nigeria and the trials that African people face as they find their feet in the wider world.
The collection will consist of five items, with estimates ranging from $50,000 to $80,000. From October 5 to 19, Christies will hold an online-only auction, accepting bids in Ethereum and Bitcoin. In addition, each digital painting will be displayed at the prestigious 1-54 London Fair. A massive celebration of artistic talent, with galleries from all over the world showcasing their work.
Following in the footsteps of many great artists, Osinachi has chosen NFTs as his vehicle for disseminating his ideas. Earlier this year, he sold three of his creations for a whopping $75,000.
