PacSun, a youth-focused fashion retailer, will begin accepting cryptocurrency payment methods from online shoppers this week as part of a partnership with payment provider BitPay.
During the PacSun checkout process, online shoppers can select the “Pay with BitPay” button, then select a crypto wallet and currency. To complete the payment, the customer scans a QR code.
PacSun will accept BitPay for 11 cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH), and ether (ETH). In addition, the retailer will accept five USD-pegged stablecoins. BitPay works with the most popular cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges, including Coinbase, MetaMask, and Binance.
“With digital sales more than doubling since last year, we recognize the continued importance of providing an exceptional online shopping experience for our customers,” PacSun President Brie Olson said in a press release.
PacSun and BitPay will launch a social media marketing campaign that will include branded content from TikTok and Instagram influencers, as well as a branded livestream event with a guest influencer and a PacSun executive.
The PacSun partnership is BitPay’s latest retail move, following a deal with Verifone last week to bring crypto payments to its merchant network in the United States.
