• Planet IX, a Polygon-based online game based on NFTs, announced today the integration of Chainlink Keepers to automate in-game weekly drawings. Planet IX will be able to safely and cost-effectively automate the selection of IXT CAT RAFF winners thanks to Chainlink.

Planet IX previously integrated Chainlink’s Verifiable Random Function (VRF), the industry standard for blockchain-based random number generation.

The Planet IX team said that they picked Chainlink Keepers to decentralize their winner selection mechanism since Chainlink’s battle-tested network already secures tens of billions of dollars in DeFi. Chainlink ensures that every Planet IX Lucky Cat Raffle is completed on schedule and with minimal trust, providing customers with greater assurance that it will perform exactly as intended.

Planet IX is an NFT-based strategy game that provides players with a one-of-a-kind gaming experience by utilizing actual digital ownership via NFTs. The project claims to have over 260,000 connected wallets, a robust community, and to be on the cutting edge of NFT gaming.

“Planet IX requires best-in-class infrastructure to truly innovate in the Web3 space,” Karl Blomsterwall, CEO of Planet IX. “Chainlink Keepers is now a critical part of our stack, helping to make Planet IX drawings more fair, transparent, and automated.”

The IXT CAT RAFF is an in-game corporation owned by LuckyCat. This corporation hosts a pooling service where users can stake IXT to enter a weekly lottery for a chance to win 2,500 IXT.

Chainlink Keepers is a decentralized service designed to manage duties for smart contracts. Keepers function as a decentralized and economically rewarded automation bot that “wakes up” smart contracts when crucial on-chain operations are required, which typically occur at regular time intervals (e.g., every day at the same time) or in response to external events (e.g., when an asset hits a specific price).

Burn.Party, a site built by Elongate, a social networking and social impact company that has also ventured into the NFT market, also integrated Chainlink Keepers last week. Solanart, the first NFT marketplace on Solana, incorporated Chainlink Price Feeds to reliably and securely show NFT prices, and Aavegotchi expanded their use of Chainlink VRF to help determine “Alchemia” bundled with Gotchiverse property parcels.
