• Princeton graduates involved in the crypto area have contributed $20 million to a research initiative

  • Four Princeton alumni have pooled their resources to raise $20 million for a new research initiative on blockchain and power decentralization.

The organization includes well-known figures from the crypto and finance industries. They are Peter Briger Jr., principal and co-chief executive officer of Fortress Investment Group, Joseph Lubin, co-creator of Ethereum and CEO of ConsenSys, Daniel Morehead, founder and CEO of Pantera Capital, and Michael Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Investment Partners.

The initiative will look into blockchain’s possible applications in finance, economics, voting, news, and other fields. According to a Princeton release, it will also investigate the socioeconomic implications of these technologies.

When the total amount of the donation was attained, a university spokeswoman verified it.

“Because technology is advancing quickly, bringing a diverse set of experts together with the engineers who are constructing these platforms is crucial for students and society,” said Andrea Goldsmith, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
