• The BEEPLE Twitter account was hacked in order to share a Louis Vuitton phishing link

  • Mike Winkelmann’s Twitter account, also known as BEEPLE, was hacked today to promote a cryptocurrency scam. His account was hacked in order to share a bogus link to a website for a collaboration with fashion designer Louis Vuitton.

According to Harry.ETH, a MetaMask/MyCrypto security researcher, “Beeple’s Twitter account has been compromised (ATO) to post a phishing website to steal funds.”

So far, it appeared that the victims had lost 35 ETH, worth approximately $71,000.

BEEPLE’s account was hacked to share a bogus link to a “official raffle entry,” and Twitter users warned others not to click on it after some reported that their ETH wallets had been drained.

As previously reported, Louis Vuitton commissioned BEEPLE to create non-fungible token (NFT) art as prizes for the Louis: The Game raffle and game.

According to his Twitter page, BEEPLE has approximately 672,000 followers. BEEPLE sold an NFT at auction for a record $69 million last year.
