The National Football League (NFL), NFL Players Association (NFLPA), and Dapper Labs, the developers of popular NFT projects such as NBA TopShot and CryptoKitties, are reportedly planning to launch an American football-themed NFT marketplace.
The deal was first reported on Tuesday, citing anonymous sources. According to the site, the NFL and NFLPA will invest in Dapper Labs, and the new American football NFT marketplace is expected to launch in early January 2022, before the end of this year’s football season.
According to the report, this new platform, like the popular NBA TopShot NFT platform, would allow users to buy and sell trading card-like NFTs of NFL sports highlights.
Dapper Labs received $250 million in funding earlier this month, bringing its total valuation to $7.6 billion. Earlier this year, Dapper Labs raised $305 million.
