• The Real Wolf of Wall Street Jordan Belfort has joined the ranks of the NFT Enthusiasts!

  • Wolf of Wall Street in real life Jordan Belfort has joined the ranks of the NFT Enthusiasts! The polarizing trader expressed his awe at the NFT Space and vowed never to leave it. He even changed his avatar to Cryptopunk #6033!

Belfort rose to prominence as a businessman, former stockbroker, and convicted felon. In 1999, he pled guilty and was sentenced to 22 months in prison for stock market manipulation and operating a penny stock scam. In 2007, he published his memoir The Wolf of Wall Street, which was adapted into a film of the same name that was released in 2013. The Hollywood, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was a major blockbuster hit, grossing $392 million in ticket sales.

The Real-Life Wall Street Wolf Jordan Belfort: From Crypto Skeptic to NFT Fan

In 2018, Belfort was outspoken in his criticism of Bitcoin. He stated in a YouTube video that ′′Bitcoin is all based on the Great Fools Theory. There is no fundamental value; everything is based on the next guy and the next guy. If you don’t want to lose all of your money, get out now because… there’s a very good chance it’ll crack.”

Belfort, on the other hand, changed his tune earlier this year. He went from predicting that Bitcoin would crash to declaring that it would reach an all-time high of $100,000. Bitcoin set a new all-time high price last week when it reached $66,974 on Wednesday, Oct. 20. This recent surge coincides with the much-anticipated debut of the first Bitcoin ETF on the New York Stock Exchange this week.

Belfort appears to have shifted his focus to the NFT Space. He is on the lookout for his next NFT purchase after tweeting about them and changing his profile picture to a Punk. He appears to be thinking about purchasing another bluechip NFT: Bored Ape Yacht Club. For someone with his level of liquidity, this is the logical next step. As of press time, BAYC had raised more than $800 million in tradeable NFT volume, with the floor price reaching 35 ETH, or nearly $150,000.

Figures of Notoriety in the NFT Field

The NFT industry is brimming with controversial and well-known figures. For example, the infamous Winklevoss twins purchased Nifty Gateway through Gemini in 2019, well before the NFT boom. It is now the world’s most exclusive NFT platform, putting digital artists on the map such as Beeple and Grimes.

Meanwhile, Mila Kunis, a Hollywood actress, created the Stoner Cats NFT series. The drop was so successful that the transaction volume clogged the Ethereum Network, resulting in a significant increase in gas fees. After selling out in 35 minutes, the NFT collection raised $8 million.

NFTs captivated Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan as well. Paris Hilton has listed some of her personal NFT collection on Sotheby’s new NFT marketplace, Metaverse. She also became an advisor and investor in Origin Protocol. Lindsay Lohan, on the other hand, is working with The Canine Cartel NFT Project. Previously, she auctioned off Lullaby, her first single in a year, on Fansforever for $85,000.

Expect to see some familiar names and crossovers as the NFT industry continues to grow and push for mass adoption!
