• The Sports Illustrated Awards Sweepstakes, sponsored by FTX, will award one Bitcoin

  • The Sports Illustrated (SI) Awards have just announced the lineup for the company’s 2021 awards show, which will be broadcast live from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Fans will be able to win a whole bitcoin from FTX this year, thanks to a partnership between the crypto exchange and the SI Awards ultimate sports sweepstakes.

A Bitcoin Sweepstakes is part of this year’s Sports Illustrated Awards.

Sports Illustrated, an American sports magazine owned by Authentic Brands Group, has been a popular publication since its inception in 1954. SI has presented the Sportsman of the Year award every year for the past 67 years, since its inception. The SI Awards will be held this year on Tuesday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida (EST).

The 2021 SI Awards will also include a sweepstakes with prizes provided by FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange. Fans can win a single bitcoin (BTC), tickets to the award show, hotel and airfare accommodations, and backstage passes to meet and greet a “surprise athlete.” FTX has been very active in the sports industry over the last year, so their sponsorship of the SI Awards comes as no surprise.

FTX recently collaborated with Shohei Ohtani, Tom Brady, and Brady’s supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen. The company is an official partner of the MLB, and it also owns the naming rights to the NBA’s Miami Heat arena and the professional esports organization TSM. Other prominent cryptocurrency companies are also venturing into the world of sports, with Crypto.com inking a massive deal with the MMA organization UFC. Crypto.com also signed a 20-year agreement to name the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to an announcement, FTX is “proud to present the evening’s most prestigious award, Sportsperson of the Year.” FTX went on to say that they were “honoring this year’s winner as the athlete who best represents the spirit and ideals of sportsmanship, character, and performance.” Guests who attend the event will also receive a commemorative Sports Illustrated Awards NFT from the FTX US NFT Marketplace.”

In addition to the sweepstakes, DJ Khaled and Cari Champion will host the SI Awards. Musicians 2Chainz and DJ Irie will also perform at the event. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Lamelo Ball, Logan Paul, Rob Gronkowski, Suni Lee, Tyler Herro, Udonis Haslem, Billie Jean King, Brooks Nader, Camille Kostek, Chad Johnson, Candace Parker, DJ Carnage, Haley Kalil, and Jasmine Sanders will also attend the SI Awards in Florida.

Medium Rare, a firm dedicated to sports, celebrity, and brand-focused non-fungible token (NFT) assets, also produces the SI Awards. This year, Medium Rare was behind the multi-million dollar NFT drops featuring the Golden State Warriors and Rob Gronkowski.
