Autograph, Tom Brady’s NFT platform, has announced a partnership with Billboard to launch its first NFT collection, which will feature popular musician The Weeknd. The collection will commemorate the singer’s number one single “Blinding Lights” on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time Hot 100 Chart! Furthermore, the single has another noteworthy accomplishment to its credit. It is also the all-time number one song, having spent 90 weeks at the top of the Hot 100 chart!
The Weeknd joined Autograph’s Board of Directors late last month, so the collaboration comes as no surprise.
“Autograph strives to be the go-to partner to tell the most engaging stories and celebrate the most important moments this [NFT] space has to offer,” Autograph CEO and Co-founder Dillon Rosenblatt told NFTevening. “Having The Weeknd join our Board of Directors and releasing his upcoming collection with Autograph demonstrates his confidence in our ability to bring this collective vision to life.”
First, there are physical trading cards.
Billboard, in collaboration with The Infinite, has launched a physical trading card collection to commemorate The Weeknd’s historic achievement. The collection, which costs $100, includes five physical cards with five different designs. All of the cards were designed by Karvin Cheung (who also owns The Infinite).
A non-numbered card, a card foil numbered out of 500, and a card foil numbered out of 10 are included in the complete set. Another highlight of the collection is an autograph card signed by hand and numbered out of ten. The set also includes a one-of-one hand-signed autograph card! Each pack contains a random trading card from the set as well as an information card with chart data.
“I’m excited to work with Billboard to highlight The Weeknd’s milestone, which will undoubtedly play a role in defining the future of music,” Cheung said in a press release.
The cards can be purchased at shop.theweeknd.com.
The Weeknd NFT collection by Billboard x Autograph
Billboard will soon release limited edition NFTs of The Weeknd on Autograph in addition to the physical trading cards. However, neither Billboard nor Autograph have revealed much about the upcoming NFT release.
Despite this, Rosenblatt stated that the collection will be “limited in quantity” and “partially set in an auction format.” More importantly, the pieces are intended to be “collectors’ proud to own for decades to come.” More information is expected to be released in the coming weeks by Billboard.
Keep an eye on Autograph and Billboard for more information on the collection!
Autograph’s mission is to bring some of the world’s most iconic figures from sports, entertainment, and culture to Web3. While it initially concentrated solely on sports, it eventually expanded into the entertainment sector. With The Weeknd’s NFT collection, it is now venturing into the music industry.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to enter the music industry and collectively celebrate a generational moment,” Rosenblatt added. “Music fans and collectors alike will flock to these one-of-a-kind NFTs to digitally own a piece of pop culture history.”
NFTs from celebrities such as Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka, Wayne Gretzky, and Tiger Woods are already available on the platform. The Weeknd’s release is just the beginning of more iconic collaborations to come!
