• Wax is being integrated by Spielworks in order to expand its NFT gaming ecosystem

  • Spielworks, a leading blockchain start-up, recently announced its integration with the environmentally friendly Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) blockchain network. As a result, the vast majority of WAX-based games and services are now compatible with Spielworks’ Wombat Wallet.

It is no secret that non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have piqued the public’s interest with digital art sales. The industry has already amassed millions of dollars, but the technology that powers it has been in use in the gaming industry since 2015. Some projects stood out from the crowd, such as CryptoKitties and Axie Infinity, the first NFT game to reach $1 billion in sales. NFT gaming captivated both gamers and crypto enthusiasts, so much so that, according to reports, half of the world’s crypto wallets are linked with blockchain-based games.

As a result, Spielworks pushes the NFT charge into the gaming world by expanding the integrations of its Wombat Wallet. According to the Spielworks team, the wallet is used by over 1.1 million gamers. WAX, on the other hand, boasts a user base of over 6 million, with approximately 60 million NFTs minted within its network.

Furthermore, with the integration of the two, Wombat wallet users will be able to play WAX-based games such as Uplift, a Minecraft-powered metaverse, Prospectors, an extensive-multiplayer real-time strategy game set in the Wild West, and R-Planet, an element combination game with high-end GameFi functionality. In addition, users can enjoy other WAX-powered services such as the BluDAC staking service and the NeftyBlocks NFT marketplace.

Adrian Krion, CEO of Spielworks, stated:

NFT gaming is unquestionably here to stay. Because blockchain-powered games are becoming increasingly popular, we must work to make the industry more sustainable and socially responsible. We’re doing just that with the WAX integration, while also bringing more of the top NFT games and projects to our users.

To summarize, the integration of WAX with Spielworks will provide a further push for sustainable NFTs, as WAX is well-known for its eco-friendly design. The blockchain consumes little power because it relies on delegated-proof-of-stake consensus rather than traditional proof-of-work. As a result, it has been able to obtain certification confirming that it is carbon neutral.
