• Gucci and Superplastic Collaborate on the ‘SuperGucci’ NFT Collection

  • Gucci, the world-famous Italian fashion house, has collaborated with digital character brand Superplastic to develop a ‘SuperGucci’ NFT collection. The collection combines iconic Gucci patterns and designs with Superplastic favorites Janky and Guggimon, two characters who have already made significant inroads into the NFT arena.

Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s Head of Design, developed all 250 unique NFTs for the collection. Fans will have three opportunities to mint the NFTs from the collection, the first of which will be on February 1st, when 10 NFTs will be released.

Each original digital collectible from the collection will come with an exclusive ceramic sculpture handmade by Italian ceramicists, in keeping with the fashion brand’s concept of adopting new technology without discarding old ones.

Janky and Guggimon, the collection’s ambiguously-gendering rodents, are expecting that the launch will mimic the success of their earlier NFT ventures, such as the 9,240-itemed ‘Janky Heist’ collection. The synthetic duo of mischievous TikTok influencers has amassed over $3.5 million in NFT-related sales, making them the Superplastic brand’s flagship characters.

Janky and Guggimon aren’t the only ones who are familiar with the NFT area; Gucci also released an NFT video called ‘Aria,’ which was auctioned off at Christie’s in June. The fashion behemoth has also been working on other NFT-related projects, with a collaboration with fashion NFT marketplace Neuno to create 3D in-game clothes apparently in the works.
